As Moasure ONE is the first motion measuring device of its kind, we have been sure to create numerous tutorial videos to help you get the best possible measuring results.
Our tutorials are set up in a way that you must work through them before you can measure. The tutorials have a few parts:
Please note: You cannot skip the videos – you simply have to watch them. The whole tutorial takes less than 2 minutes for the majority of Moasure users.
Once you complete two measurements successfully, the tutorial is automatically disabled for that measurement mode.
Our research shows us that watching the tutorial videos is the fastest way to getting good measurements. We encourage all users to watch the tutorial videos as they learn how to measure using Moasure ONE, as we want to make sure you have success with Moasure from the start.
----
Understanding the correct orientation of your Moasure One is incredibly important to ensure reliable measurement results.
You will notice that there is an LED in the only 'sharp' corner, on the top surface of the module. This corner on the back surface of the device is the reference point for your measurements*
Moasure measures its own movement as you move it from one point to another. Ensure you always try to place the bottom surface flat on the object, or wall, at the start and at the end of the measurement.
Make sure you hold the device still until the app tells you otherwise. Remember to align the sharp corner with the edge of the object your measuring, so when measuring an object, place the reference point at each end of the object. The “Object Point to Point’ tutorial shows how this works here >>
Be sure to not tilt, or rotate your Moasure ONE unnecessarily, as you move it as this can cause errors with your measurements. It’s also crucial to not bang it against the object you're measuring. Moasure ONE is tough, but measurement accuracy needs a soft touch.
*Note that ‘Object Edge to Edge mode’ uses the edge of the device as a reference rather than the reference point – see the tutorial for this mode here >>
----
Unlike most measuring tools, the measurement error grows with time, not with distance. This is very important to be aware of when measuring with Moasure.
When measuring with Moasure, it is key to move quickly as you measure, but also smoothly. For maximum accuracy, we recommend keeping your measurements to less than 4 seconds. To help you, there's a timer bar displayed when you're measuring, and the audible feedback helps you too. Keep the timer bar in the green or yellow zones.
For larger measurements, pause the measurement every 3-4 seconds, by placing your device very still against a solid object for a second, then continue the measurement. Pausing like this will maintain the same level of accuracy over very large measurements.
You can view a selection of pausing examples here >>
----
Time: your measurement movement is taking too long. Each movement MUST be completed in 3-4 seconds. The longer this takes, the faster the error grows. For larger measurements, pause the measurement every 3-4 seconds, by placing your device very still against a solid object for a second, then continue the measurement.
Rotation: during the movement, you are rotating your device just a little bit too much. Try to keep your Moasure ONE in the same orientation throughout the movement – except of course for the rotation needed for the measuring mode.
Unexpected movement: Moasure has detected unexpected movement. This could be that you have tilted your device in a way Moasure does not want you to. It could also mean that you are ending your measurement with a hard bang. Moasure ONE is tough, but measurement accuracy needs a soft touch. Please watch the tutorial videos carefully and move your device as shown.

Moasure ONE captures individual measurements from within the Moasure app. These measurements can be saved (on your smartphone) and shared (via email).
Moasure 3D gives you further functionality as it allows you to capture the shape and dimensions of an object or space as a set of 3D coordinates and builds them as a .DXF or .CSV file, for subsequent import into a CAD program

To save a measurement, you simply need to click the save icon (image below) which is located next to the measurement within the measuring mode.
To then access these saved measurements, you simply need to click back into the save icon (image below).

DO move Moasure smoothly and quickly - the quicker the better, within reason.
DO place the device flat with its bottom on the object.
DO keep each measurement step to less than 3-4 seconds keep the timer bar in the green or yellow zones.
DO place it softly against the object you're measuring.
DO watch the tutorial videos - they will help so please be patient with them. You can view them here >>
DO read the measurement tips that pop-up. Moasure checks how you're moving your device and will tell you how you can increase the accuracy of your measurements.
DO study the animations - they'll provide further guidance on the correct motion and orientation.
DON'T tilt it, or rotate it unnecessarily, as you move it.
DON'T bang it against the object you're measuring. Moasure ONE is tough, but measurement accuracy needs a soft touch.
DON'T let the timer bar reach the red section before 'pausing' your measurement.
----
Moasure measures its own movement as you move it from one point to another.
As you touch down from one point to another, Moasure plots each position and calculates all the relevant measurements at the same time. So, if you take a straight-line measurement from one wall to another, Moasure will calculate the A to B measurement, but it will also be able to calculate the difference in height, level or angle between the two points.
You can read more here >>
----
Moasure ONE's accuracy depends on which measuring mode you are using and the duration of the measurement.
When measuring length, accuracy is typically better than 0.5%*.
When measuring angles and slopes, accuracy is typically better than 0.5 degree*.
*for measurements where each step is up to 4 seconds in duration.
